Robust, remarkable and ridden with soul — Adele’s music will be remembered in time much like the work of soul pioneers Aretha Franklin and Amy Winehouse. The crooner’s comeback album 30 attests to this fact, charting high on music charts across the world moments after its release. Its marvellous melodies, poignant lyrics, and captivating crescendos bring about an unreal serenity, a feeling similar to the tranquillity of finding a shelter during a chaotic storm.
The album is a beautiful letter from a mother to her son (Angelo Adkins) that tells a story through the songs. 30 walks listeners through what seems to be Adele’s toughest moments in life, ones ridden with guilt, anxiety and deep-rooted pain. The opening number Strangers By Nature is one of the most striking singles Adele has ever sung while Easy on Me and All Night Parking are strong contenders for next year’s award season.
All in all: 30 is a classic and its crooner, a powerhouse.
