This comedy creator’s Hermione Granger impressions are way too accurate

Arindam Thapliyal’s new reel brings the uptight character’s Hindi dub to life

Everyone remembers the Harry Potter films for the beautiful world building — and their Hindi dubs for ironic laughter. Instagram creator Arindam Thapliyal, aka @jagat_didi, refreshed our childhood memories with his latest reel, impersonating Hermione Granger’s bossy and uptight nature. 

Essayed by Emma Watson, the character’s Hindi dub was particularly memorable for her unintentionally funny jabs in weirdly shudh Hindi. Thapliyal had us going nostalgic with references to the ‘seema rekha’ (Age Line) drawn by Dumbledore, Lupin’s ‘narbhediya’ (werewolf) identity, and the ‘kaal parivartak’ (Time Turner) she used to get to her classes in third year. We’re seriously considering revisiting the Hindi versions of the films now!
