Kate Middleton, the patron saint of no-nonsense styling, recently stepped out with a pared-down, manageable shag cut, which makes us consider the cut for our next salon appointment.

The ‘royal shag’ as beauty experts are calling it is basically a sleeker, relaxed shag that is easier to style. It makes use of her grown-out fringe and gives her asymmetrical layers some zhuzh. For people trying to grow out their bangs, the ‘royal shag’ is a great cut because it works on straight and wavy hair and can accommodate a lot of texture.
