This Russian dish is known to be hearty, filling and flavourful. It’s named after the influential Stroganov dynasty since it was made in the 19th century by French chefs working for the family. Over the years, this entree has been updated to fit the modern memo.
The Country House’s version features chicken sauteed with garlic, bell pepper, onion and gherkin. It is mixed in a brown sauce that’s made in-house, and served with a side of herbed rice. Stroganoff is breathy and distinct in flavour and in spite of the cheese, it doesn’t make you feel bloated. It’s one of the few continental numbers that you can go for, even in the middle of a busy workday!
