The Italian word Affogato means “drowned” and the drink has an espresso shot drowning in ice cream. The freshly ground coffee beans and creamy ice-cream create a symphony that words don’t do justice to. It is perhaps testament to just how much people loved the Affogato at The Daily Cafe, that despite it being removed from the menu after the first lockdown, popular demand brought it back last week. The age-old combination of coffee and ice cream makes Affogato at the Sarat Bose Road eatery a perfect accompaniment to any meal. It can help in the ice-breaking conversations of a first date, or can be fought over by friends who just don’t want to share their scoop. Bittersweet has never felt better.
