‘A Bath with a Stranger’ cocktail at Effingut

Bored of the classic gin & tonic? Kolkata’s newest brewpub – Effingut – has a way to zhuzh it up for you.
This unique cocktail is made with Greater Than Gin, which is then shaken with a special in house concoction of green tea kombucha. Slices of green apple and lychee are sous vide at 45 degrees for 8 hours to create a syrup that is complements the gin. Paired with fresh Italian lemon juice and citric acid for balance, the drink is served with some lychee and apple foam. Topped with dried rose petals and a dehydrated apple under a cheeky umbrella, the dish is served in a pink bathtub which makes it a fun boozy experience.
“Cocktails are about having fun and sometimes bartenders can forget to keep things light and breezy. We truly embrace light and breezy at Effingut and would serve booze in a boot if it made people happy. It was actually my mum who helped refine the name, gotta love mums!” said Zac Abbott, head of craft mixology, Effingut.
