Diwali isn’t ever complete without Rangolis and with so many designs to recreate available online, it shouldn’t be that hard to do. But Rangoli is an art and sometimes, having the perfect design handy doesn’t always mean that we have the easiest time making it. Well, fret no more because nailing your Diwali Rangoli will be the least of your worries on the festive day. Here are a few handpicked DIY hacks that you can resort to for that perfect Rangoli:

  • An empty plastic bottle with a long nozzle (much like an empty Fevicol bottle) is very helpful in creating intricate designs. Want to draw fine lines, little dots or the perfect curves? This should be your go-to tool.
  • To make perfect circles of different sizes, use items like plates, bangles, tape rolls and saucers. These things are easily available at home. Place your selected item in the right spot and put colours all around it. Remove the item, and you have got yourself a perfect circle!
  • Q-tips or earbuds come in handy too. If you are not too confident about making the design with colours, use earbuds to create your desired design. Put your Rangoli colours in the desired shape and use an earbud to draw different patterns in the colour. It’s a lot less messy and easier.
  • Use spoons to create elongated motifs like leaves. Put the Rangoli colour in a circle, place the spoon on top and drag the colour in one direction. You will get a beautiful teardrop shape!
  • If you feel like colours are messy, use flower petals. They are easier to handle and you get the same vibrant designs as with colours. A win-win!
