Raise a toast to dad with boozy cocktail and cheesy chicken

Plan something simple and nice today — like watching the home videos together or watching the first film you and your papa bonded over. And, cook something special too. Something that’s quick, tasty and doesn’t take away your quality time with your daddy. Like this Daab, Gin and Ginger Ale Cocktail and Chicken and Cheese Pockets. Daab, Gin and Ginger Ale Cocktail:


  • Coconut water: 500ml
  • Roughly crushed coconut malai: 10-12 pieces (Optional)
  • Gin: 100ml
  • Ginger Ale: 100ml
  • Crushed ice: 1 medium cup
  • Salt and red chilli powder mix: 2-3 tablespoons
  • Green chilli flakes: 2-3 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice: 2 large lemons


  • Take a shaker of a bottle and pour the coconut water, gin and ginger ale. Add crushed ice and shake very well
  • Take a tall glass and soak the corners of the glass with lemon juice. Dab on the salt and red chilli powder mix
  • Add coconut malai if you have managed some
  • Pour the drink in the glass. Careful, don’t smudge the corners!
  • Add a small pinch of green chilli flakes and give a quick stir and say cheers!

Chicken and Cheese Pockets:


  • Chicken breasts: 500gm
  • Onion paste: 3 tablespoons
  • Ginger and garlic paste: 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper powder: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt: To taste
  • Lemon juice: 2 tablespoons
  • Cheese slices: 7-8 pieces
  • Olive oil: 3-4 tablespoons


  • Marinate the chicken for minimum 15-20 minutes
  • Make half-way through incisions and add the marination
  • Place the cheese slices
  • Heat a nonstick pan with olive oil
  • Place the chicken breasts, keep the heat low and cook until both sides are golden brown. Serve piping hot with a dash of lemon juice and a sprinkle of black pepper powder
