Arrested former minister Partha Chatterjee, who was suspended from Trinamul, on Saturday said he was “with the party” and will continue to remain so.

Chatterjee was replying to reporters on his way to Presidency jail from SSKM Hospital.

Suspended from Trinamul and robbed of his ministerial berth, he was the state’s commerce and industries minister when the Enforcement Directorate arrested him in July.

Daler sangey chhilam. Daler sangey achhi (I was with the party. I continue to remain with the party),” Partha said.

Around 4pm, Partha was brought to the hospital from the Alipore correctional home after he complained of swelling of his feet and restlessness.

Senior officials in the prison department said Partha’s haemoglobin count had fallen and his creatinine level had shot up.

While leaving for SSKM, Partha told reporters that he was not well. “Bhalo noy, bhalo noy (not well, not well),” he said.

At SSKM, a team of doctors attended to him and referred him for a series of tests, senior officials accompanying him said. The tests were done.

Unlike after his court production following his arrest on July 23, doctors at the state institute did not prescribe hospitalisation for Partha.

Six days after Partha’s arrest, Trinamul’s all-India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had announced the party’s decision to suspend the leader from the party within two hours of chief minister Mamata Banerjee removing him from the cabinet.
