West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee and governor La Ganesan on Saturday paid homage to freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his birth anniversary.
Describing Tilak as an immortal patriot, the CM referred to his close relationship with the freedom fighters in Bengal.
“I pay my humble tributes to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his birth anniversary today. The immortal patriot had intimate relations with Bengal freedom fighters and we are inspired by his spirit even today,” Banerjee tweeted.
Ganesan laid a wreath at Tilak’s statue near the south gate of Raj Bhawan.
Tilak, born in 1856, was among the first leaders with a pan-India appeal to have emerged in the freedom movement.
Chief minister greets successful candidates in CBSE Class X and XII exams
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday congratulated all those who successfully cleared the Class X and XII exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
“Congratulations to our successful students and rank-holders of CBSE examination! Kudos to the guardians, teachers, schools. Those who have fared below expectations must resolve to fight better in future,” Banerjee tweeted.
Results showed that 94.40 per cent of Class X students cleared the exams, while the figure is 92.71 per cent for Class 12.
