Two more persons have been arrested in connection with the alleged abduction, robbing and firing at a man after a brawl at a pub inside Metropolis Mall on the southeastern fringes of Kolkata on Christmas Eve.
The duo arrested on Tuesday are Halim Mondal alias Babu alias Kalo, 35, and Mohammad Tanveer, 23. Both are suppliers of construction materials from Narendrapur. Another person was arrested on Monday.
Halim Mondal, the police said, had opened fire at Pintu Bag, the 31-year-old resident of Narendrapur.
“Bag was forced to board a car after he stepped out of the pub, robbed of money and his mobile phone before being dumped along the EM Bypass and shot at. One of the bullets hit his arm,” said deputy commissioner (east division) Gaurav Lal.
Lal added that both the accused men as well as Bag have criminal cases against them. An officer said that Bag and the men from the other group were drunk and were hurling abuses at each other. “The altercation led to the kidnap and shooting,” said Lal.
Both the accused were held in Patuli. A one-shot gun and Bag’s mobile phone were recovered from them. “We have not found the involvement of anyone else till now,” said an officer.
