An actress has complained to police that she received objectionable messages from a man who used a fake profile of a prominent film director and producer of Tollywood.
Police said the actress mentioned in her complaint that she had received a flurry of objectionable messages from the man, who first sent her a friend request posing as the director-producer and then offered her a role in one of his films.
The actress first approached the Kolkata police’s cyber crime cell. Officers there directed her to the Barrackpore police commissionerate, where a case has been lodged based on her complaint.

She told the police that she received the friend request on social media on Saturday afternoon.
“After an initial exchange of pleasantries, the man offered her a role in his upcoming film. When she wanted to know the details, the conversation veered towards something else,” said an officer of the commissionerate. “What followed were some lewd messages, which left her wondering whether the profile was fake or not.”
The actress took screenshots of the conversation and posted them on her social media account. Subsequently, she realised that the account of the person was fake and that he had cloned several pictures from the director’s account.
“She has submitted the screenshots along with her complaint. We are investigating the complaint. We hope the accused will be arrested soon,” the officer said.
