Children of Little Einsteins preschool and daycare made floral rangolis, cut out diyas and kalashes and played dandia to celebrate an early Navratri at their Salt Lake CK Block campus.

The event was held a few days before the Puja holidays and had the kids living up the festive fervour. “My family celebrates Durga puja at home so we are too busy to go out and take part in Navratri anywhere. This was the first time that I played dandiya with friends,” said 14-year-old Adhiraj Gupta, a resident of Kestopur.

For 10-year-old Ishaani Chaudhuri, the best part of the day was making rangolis with Marigolds. The kids also made art and craft work to create typical festive motifs like kalash and diya and partied with snacks and colas.

“We were a bit worried about how the kids would handle the dandia sticks since some were as young as two years old. We were afraid they might hurt one another,” said Nidhi Kayal, the franchisee. “They had been curious about the sticks ever since our teachers started wrapping them up with colourful papers. The teachers explained what they were, how much fun they are to dance with and also how students need to be careful around them. We’re glad the event went off smoothly, teaching the kids about our culture.”
