‘Suicide’ by couple in Garia apartment

A man and a woman, who lived in an apartment in Garia on the southern fringes of the city, were found dead in their home on Tuesday morning sometime after cops received an e-mail from them saying that they were committing suicide, police said.

Hrishikesh Pal, 28, and his partner Riya Sarkar, 30, ran a medicine distributorship.

Officers from Bansdroni police station went to the flat and found it locked. They entered the flat using a duplicate key that Pal’s brother had. “On opening the door, they found the couple lying unconscious on the bed. Some medicine stripes and a suicide note were found,” said an officer.

The purported suicide note said they were forced to close their business and were ending their life because of financial distress.
