Representatives of students’ bodies at Presidency University met the authorities on Friday and demanded the institution revive admission tests for undergraduate courses.

Ahan Karmakar, convener of the Independents Consolidation (IC), alleged the university was silent on the issue. “In the last two years, students had to be admitted based on their Plus II marks because of extraordinary circumstances (the pandemic). But now on-campus activities have resumed. Still the authorities are not doing anything.”

IC members met the dean of students, Arun Kumar Maity, on Friday.

When contacted by The Telegraph, Maity declined to comment. Calls and messages to vice-chancellor Anuradha Lohia went unanswered.

Presidency University Students’ Union members, too, met the authorities. “We won’t allow marks-based admission,” said a member.
