A government school in Hingalganj in North 24-Parganas has decided to take feedback from students about the Covid safety protocol in school as in-person classes resume from November 16.

Kanaknagar SD Institution HS will take feedback on the kind of sanitisation arrangements and hygiene protocol that should be maintained in the classrooms, in the drinking water area, in toilets and during the tiffin break.

The school will work on the feedback received from students which will help build confidence among parents and the students, the school head said.

“While we are following all sanitisation protocol we also need to take a feedback from students whether they think what the school is doing is sufficient or not,” said Pulak Roy Chowdhury, the headmaster of the school.

Since the school is reopening after a long gap, the step to seek feedback will clear doubts among parents about the safety of their kids, Roy Chowdhury said.

Parents across schools are apprehensive of sending their children to school primarily because this age group is not vaccinated.

The government has reopened campuses for in-person classes for students in classes IX to XII.

“After taking the feedback for a week we will work on them. We need to understand the views of the students and the parents. This will instill confidence in parents to send their children to the school,” said Roy Chowdhury.

The state government had published guidelines to be followed by schools and institutions are preparing their campuses accordingly.

“The long gap from school has impacted children in different ways and the objective of the school is not just to cater to their academic needs but also to their emotional and mental well-being,” he said.

The school also plans to give students an opportunity to grade the safety measures.

“So long it was the teachers who graded the students but now it would be different, said a teacher.
