After two days of hard-fought golf at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC), it was Ranjit Singh’s brilliant last-round performance that earned him a memorable two-shot win at the third edition of the Bengal Golf Association’s (BGA) West Bengal State Championship and Talent Search.

The competition, jointly sanctioned by the Indian Golf Union (IGU) and BGA, was hosted by India’s oldest golf club between March 31 and April 1 and featured a pool of 115 players. The individual stroke play format was used for the tournament with the 36-hole gross scores of the participants taken into consideration.

In what made for a thrilling finish, Ranjit Singh produced a fantastic final round of one-under 71 to win by two shots, making him the new West Bengal state champion, for both the Amateur and Mid-Amateur divisions. Aryan Roopa Anand finished second in the Amateur category after accumulating a total of 151 across both days. Although Tej Gangavarapu put up a spirited fight, he narrowly missed out on the runner-up position.
