The Park Street flyover will be closed from 10pm on January 7, Friday, to 6am on January 11, Tuesday, for tests to assess load-bearing capacity.

During this period, vehicles headed to both the south and north (Birla Planetorium and Esplanade) will have to move along JL Nehru Road instead of taking the flyover.

The Hooghly River Bridge Commissioners (HRBC) will conduct the tests on the flyover.

Kolkata police and the HRBC jointly issued a traffic advisory on Thursday, announcing the temporary closure of the flyover and the traffic plan during this period.

The state government has planned load bearining tests on five flyovers in Kolkata .

Apart from the Park Street flyover, the AJC Bose Road, Lockgate, Gariahat and the Nagerbazar flyovers are expected to undergo tests in a phased manner following recommendations of an expert committee on flyovers set up by the state government.
