Vidyamandira began recalling students from February 3. The Narendrapur college started recalling students from February 6.

The Narendrapur college has so far called firstyear and secondyear postgraduate students and secondyear and thirdyear undergraduate students.

Swami Ekachittananda, the principal of the Narendrapur college, said the exams would be held following the advisory from the higher education department. to all vicechancellors.

“As the maximum classes of the current semester were taken in online mode, it is advised to all universities/institutions in the state of West Bengal under the administrative control of this department to conduct the current semester examination in online mode, wherever it is possible,” the advisory said.

A college official said those who have stable internet might want to go home because the exams are being held online.

“I am still not comfortable with the idea of letting my son stay in the hostel. But since the practical classes can be held only on campus, he has to go. I would ask him to come back and write the exam from home,” said the father of a postgraduate science student.

An official of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur, said students will have to return to the campus once the exams end to attend offline classes of the even semester.

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara, which is not a residential campus, has started offline classes of the even semester from February 3 and exams will be held offline, said Swami Kamalasthananda, the principal of the college.

The exams of the oddsemester were held online in January, he said.

A college official said since the government advisory did not say anything about the mode of exams for the even semester, the exams would be held physically.
