An employee of a firm that was entrusted to preserve the OMR sheets of Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) candidates by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education was arrested by the CBI on Monday.

The arrest was made in connection with its ongoing probe into alleged irregularities in recruitments in state-aided schools.

Partha Sen is an employee of S Basu Roy and Company, CBI officers said.

A resident of Howrah, Sen was in charge of the company’s data collection and
preservation wing, an officer said.

The CBI had conducted a search and seizure operation at Sen’s house earlier.

On Monday, he was summoned to Nizam Palace for a round of questioning and was later arrested.

“There are several inconsistencies in his statements. We will question him further,” said a senior CBI official.

In September, Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of Calcutta High Court asked the CBI why the central investigating agency had failed to probe the destruction of OMR sheets of TET candidates.

The agency said that the company had told them it did not have a system for preserving OMR sheets and could hand over only the stored digitised data.
