A unit dedicated to the treatment of neurological ailments in children was launched at a city hospital on Monday.
The unit at Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata (INK) will cater to neurological infections like meningitis and encephalitis (both can cause inflammation of the brain), traumatic head injuries and strokes.

“Timely intervention is critical in these cases. Often, initial assessment, conducting tests take up a lot of time because they are done at different places. Here, we will have everything under one roof,” said Jigyasha Sinha, paediatric neurologist at the INK and in charge of the unit.
Retired judge, Ashim Kumar Banerjee, chairman of the West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission, attended the inauguration.
