“An unidentified man suddenly jumped on the tracks at 10:28am on the down line when a Kavi Subhas-bound train was just entering the Kalighat station,” a Metro Railway spokesperson said.

As a result, Metro services were truncated between Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Kavi Subhas as well as between Maidan and Dakshineswar from 10.28am till 11.05am, the spokesperson noted.

On July 11, a woman had committed suicide by jumping in front of a Kabi Subhas-bound train at the Girish Park Metro station. Later, she was identified as Niva Sen, 57, a resident of Shib Krishna Daw Lane in Kankurgachi.
