Kolkata Traffic Police posted a list of programmes that might affect the city traffic on Wednesday (23.8.2023)

  • 12 noon: Exhibition on JBS Haldane Avenue
  • 12 noon: Procession along Rani Rashmoni Avenue, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, SN Banerjee Road, Jawaharlal Nehru Road
  • 1pm: Procession along AJC Bose Road, Creek Row, Hind Cinema, Ganesh Chandra Avenue, Chittaranjan Avenue, KC Das crossing
  • 3pm: Procession along Bentinck Street, Chittaranjan Avenue
  • 4pm: Procession along Raja Subodh Chandra Mullick Road, Gariahat Road (South), Golpark

Kankulia level crossing

A level crossing on Kankulia Road, near Ballygunge station, will be shut for pedestrians and motorists from 10pm to 6am every day for repairs till August 25 morning, said a railway official.

Blockade halts train to Dhaka

The Dhaka-bound Maitree Express remained stranded for over three hours at Nadia s Kalyani station on Tuesday morning after daily passengers blocked the tracks at Madanpur, the next station.

Angry passengers staged a demonstration on the tracks demanding the withdrawal of MEMU coaches with narrow doors be withdrawn during the morning rush hours, converting all nine-coach EMU rakes into 12-coach ones and halting all galloping trains at Madanpur station.
