Kolkata Traffic Police have posted a list of programmes that might affect the city traffic on Tuesday (21.2.2023).

  • 9am: Rally near from 219/1, AJC Bose Road towards 30, Park Street via AJC Bose Road - Camac Street - Short Street - Wood Street - Park Street
  • 10am: An awareness programme at Y-Channel, Esplanade
  • 12 noon: Procession from 19, Synagogue Street to 161, Netaji Subhas Road via Howrah Bridge approach – Mahatma Gandhi Road
  • 12.30pm: A programme at Deshapriya Park
  • 2pm: Procession from Jadubabau Bazar to Hazra More via Ashutosh Mukherjee Road, SP Mukherjee Road
  • 4pm: Procession near from Aliah University, Park Circus campus, will move along Gorachand Road, Sundari Mohan Avenue, Don Bosco Island and Suhrawardy Avenue may reach in front of the gate of the Park Circus Maidan (opposite Lady Brabourne College)

Sri Ramakrishna birth anniversary

The tithi puja on the occasion of the 188th birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa will start with a mangal arati at 4am at Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, on Tuesday. A series of programmes will be held throughout the day, including a meeting on the life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna.

Biker goes missing from Setu

An unattended motorcycle was found near the first pylon on the Howrah-bound flank of Vidyasagar Setu around 7am on Monday. Police said the motorcyclist possibly jumped off the bridge into the Hooghly. Later in the day, Arijit Das’s father lodged a missing diary with Hastings police station.

Das, 27, is a resident of Fartabad in Garia. Members of the disaster management group and the river traffic police are searching for the youth.

Car falls into Hooghly river

A private car, which was parked near the brink of Nimtala Ghat, fell into the Hooghly around 4.15am after hitting Mahendra Lal, a 57-year-old man who was sleeping on the ghat.

The man was rushed to the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital with multiple injuries. Police said the car had no occupants. Later, the vehicle was pulled out of the river.
