Durga Puja felicitation
The Forum for Durgotsav, an umbrella organisation of all major Durga Puja organisers in Kolkata, will felicitate artisans, artists, electricians, decorators and theme artists in Town Hall on Thursday to mark the first anniversary of the Durga Puja receiving Unesco’s Intangible Cultural Heritage status. Several ministers, including city mayor Firhad Hakim, will be present at the event, said the organisers.
Train service hit
Suburban train services in the Sealdah-Bongaon section were affected for over three hours after a fire broke out in shanties along the railway tracks in Habra, North 24-Parganas, around 5pm on Wednesday. An official of Eastern Railway said the services were disrupted till around 7.20pm. Passengers said the ripple effect lasted for close to another hour.
