Metro passengers
Metro Railway ferried 7.5 lakh passengers on the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade stretch of the east-west corridor (Green Line) between March 15 -- when commercial services began on the truncated stretch -- and March 31. The Howrah station, which is connected with the Howrah railway station, was the most crowded, recording 3.15 lakh passengers. Howrah Maidan, the terminal station, witnessed 2.55 lakh passengers during the period. Mahakaran and Esplanade saw 91,000 and 81,000 passengers, respectively, said an official.
IIM convocation
IIM Calcutta’s 59th annual convocation will be held on the Joka campus on Saturday. Uday Kotak, founder of Kotak Mahindra Bank, will be the chief guest.
