Pedestrian hit
An unknown pedestrian, around 30 years old, was injured when a speeding vehicle hit him at the intersection of St Georges Gate Road and Commissariat Road on Saturday. Police shifted him to the trauma unit at SSKM Hospital. The police were scanning CCTV grabs to identify the vehicle.
Biker dead
Aziz Mollah, died after he rammed his motorbike into a roadside pillar on Hatishala Road on Friday. He apparently lost control of his two-wheeler, police said.
Fire at shanty in Ultadanga
Fire broke out in a shanty in Gorapada Sarkar Lane in Ultadanga on Saturday morning. Some youths in the area joined hands with the residents to arrange for water locally and managed to douse the flames even before a fire tender could reach the spot. Police said no one was injured.
