Interim VC term
The higher education department on Friday announced it has extended the tenure of the interim vice-chancellor of Calcutta University by two months from January 20. In October 2022, Ashis Kumar Chattopadhyay, pro-VC (academic) of CU, was appointed interim VC after the Supreme Court upheld a Calcutta High Court order setting aside the government’s decision to reappoint Sonali Chakravorty Banerjee as the full-term VC.
