Jadavpur University search panel
The education department has restrained Jadavpur University from holding a court meeting on March 29 to select the university’s nominee to the search committee that would shortlist names for appointment to the post of vice-chan-cellor.
A senior official of JU said the education department on Tuesday told VC Das not to hold the meeting because the department has yet to make necessary amendments to the composition of the search committee by inserting the name of the UGC nominee into the committee. Calls to Das went unanswered.
Tallah tank
Kolkata Municipal Corporation has completed the restoration of the century-old Tallah water tank. Mayor Firhad Hakim visited the tank on Thursday. All four compartments of the tank will start functioning together soon. During the restoration, at least one tank was repaired at a time keeping other compartments functional.
