Train schedule

Infrastructure upgrade in the Howrah division has forced some changes in the schedule of some local trains in the Howrah-Bardhaman section and some express trains. From Howrah, local train 36855 on Saturday and trains 36811, 36813 and 36815 on Sunday have been cancelled. The 12307 Howrah-Jodhpur Express, 12321 Howrah-Mumbai CSMT Mail and the 12331 Howrah-Jammu Tawi Himgiri Express (all slated to leave Howrah on Saturday) will be diverted via Bandel-Khana, said an official.

Harassment charge

Actor Jeetu Kamal, whose close resemblance to Satyajit Ray in the film Aparajito became a talking point, and his wife Nabanita Das have alleged harassment at the hands of police in North 24-Parganas. The couple’s car was allegedly hit by a goods vehicle near Majherhati crossing in Nimta on Thursday afternoon.

When they tried to stop the offending vehicle, its driver and help allegedly abused them. “The policemen on duty tried to discourage me from going to the police station. When we did, they refused to take our complaint. The driver of the vehicle and the helper threatened us in front of the policemen,” Das told ABP Ananda. A senior officer of the Barrackpore commissionerate told The Telegraph that he was unaware of the incident and would look into it.
