Festival trains
Eastern Railway has run 185 trips of festival special trains this season, compared to 132 in 2022, said an official. The trains connected Howrah and Sealdah with NJP, Puri, Asansol, Delhi, Anand Vihar, Patna and Raxaul.
Bhog scuffle death: 2 held
The preliminary post-mortem report of Anil Razak, 47, who died at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday, revealed that he had suffered head injuries that could have caused his death, police said. A police officer said Razak was injured during a scuffle over distribution of bhog at a Kali Puja pandal in Maniktala on Diwali night. Based on the complaint lodged by Razak s family, the police on Thursday arrested two men, identified as Sukumar Das and Shiba, for allegedly assaulting Razak. Both have been charged under IPC sections dealing with causing death due to negligence.
