Kolkata police gets new detective chief

Sankha Subhro Chakraborty will take over as joint police commissioner, crime, replacing Murli Dhar, who will be an additional police commissioner

The city will have a new detective chief in Sankha Subhro Chakraborty. He will take over as joint police commissioner, crime, replacing Murli Dhar, who will be an additional police commissioner of Kolkata.

A shuffle that was formalised late on Thursday will also see Santosh Pande take over as joint police commissioner, headquarters, of Kolkata police, replacing Subhankar Sinha Sarkar. Pande was the joint commissioner responsible for the city’s traffic.

Sinha Sarkar will be an additional police commissioner. Surya Pratap Yadav, deputy commissioner of police in charge of the city’s south suburban division, will be responsible for the city’s traffic movement.

Surya Pratap will replace Sunil Kumar Yadav, who has been posted as deputy inspector general of police in charge of coastal security. Rupesh Kumar, in charge of the city’s central division as deputy police commissioner, will be joint police commissioner, traffic.

Dinesh Kumar, superintendent of police, Paschim Medinipur, will replace Rupesh Kumar.

Akash Magharia, deputy police commissioner in charge of Kolkata police’s south division, has been posted as deputy inspector general of police, Presidency range (which covers North and South 24-Parganas and Howrah).

Priyobrata Roy will be the city’s new deputy commissioner of police in charge of the south division.

Sudeep Sarkar, deputy commissioner of police of the city’s south east division, has been posted as deputy inspector general of police, Malda range. Subhankar Bhattacharya will replace Sarkar in the southeast division.

Bidisha Kalita has been posted as deputy superintendent of police in charge of the city’s south suburban division. Dhritiman Sarkar has been posted as superintendent of police of Paschim Medinipur. Praween Prakash will be the new superintendent of police in Darjeeling.
