The ICSE council will conduct a teacher training programme for the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) semester 1 exams.

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has provided a list of subjects at the ICSE and ISC levels and the dates on which the online training programmes will be conducted.

Several school heads said this kind of training happens every year but this time it is more significant because of the change in exam pattern.

The semester 1 exam will have multiple-choice questions (MCQ) and be conducted online.

Teachers across city schools have registered for the training where they are expecting the MCQ pattern to be discussed.

Teachers have been splitting hairs to prepare multiple-choice questions because it is a completely new area for them at this level. Several teachers have told their schools that they have many doubts to clarify.

“It is easy to prepare MCQs in the science subjects but difficult in the language and humanities subjects. The subject coordinators will attend the training from our school. They will then guide the teachers in their departments,” said John Stephen, the acting principal of La Martiniere for Boys.

About eight teachers have registered from La Martiniere for Boys, around 30 from The Heritage School, 20-odd from Julien Day School Ganganagar and almost all teachers at the ICSE and ISC levels at Sri Sri Academy.

“The training will help teachers to be aligned with what the board is thinking and it will help us prepare our students better,” said Suvina Shunglu, principal, Sri Sri Academy.

Bobby Baxter, the principal of Julien Day School Ganganagar, said teachers were keen to register to get an idea about how to prepare the students for the semester 1 exams.

“The teacher training programme has been popular over the years but this year the change in exam pattern has made the training much more in demand,” said Sujoy Biswas, principal, Rammohan Mission High School.
