Students of Eurokids took the Rabindra Okakura Bhavan stage recently to celebrate their first offline annual day since the pandemic.

Donning red tops and with schoolbags on their backs, they danced to the Kunal Ganjawala song School chale hum. Well, almost all of them. Rishank Banerjee flatly refused to perform. “I will not dance unless my sister dances with me,” said the four-year-old. His twin sister Riyanshi had a quick retort too: “I will not dance with him. The girls are wearing yellow and the boys are wearing red so I will not dance in his group.”

The playgroup batch from Eurokids’ CK Block branch danced to Asmaan ko chhukar dekho with scarves as props but little dancer Soujato Bhattacharjee was most happy to see his parents in the audience. In fact, he tried to walk straight up to them!

Nursery students of their BB Block branch performed to Aaye ay ke jabi, Itni si khushi and It’s magic from the film Koi... Mil Gaya. Some, like Anupreeta Sen, however burst into tears on stage: “Ma-baba r kachhe jabo!” she cried.

Principal of the BB Block branch, Soma Chandra, said around 90 students took part this year. :The scale was much smaller than usual, what with schools just opening. We rehearsed everything in 15 days. But they enjoyed being on stage,” she said.
