Bhattacharya, a Trinamul Congress MLA from Nadia district, was shown documents related to the alleged irregular recruitments that bore his signature as the president and asked if he had signed the documents on his own or on anyone’s instructions, said one of the investigators.

“We already have evidence that there was irregularity in the recruitment process,” said a senior officer.

Medical check-up

Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee were taken to Joka ESI hospital for their medical examination on Wednesday morning.

As per protocol, anyone who is arrested and is in the custody of any investigating agency has to be taken to a government hospital once daily.
