3/5 The country’s oldest and iconic football club, Mohun Bagan’s main gate is set to be named after legendary footballer Chuni Goswami. Goswami passed away in 2020. The gate will be officially renamed and inaugurated at 10.30 am on April 15 by another sporting icon, Sunil Gavaskar. It may be noted that Goswami had captained both India and Mohun Bagan and had scored nine goals in 30 international appearances. His major achievements with the club were winning the Calcutta football league six times, the IFA Shield and Durand Cup four times as skipper. He also played first-class cricket for Bengal. Goswami’s wife Basanti will grace the occasion

5/5 Spencer’s on Wednesday announced its Fish Festival (with the biggest-ever offer) Spencer’s MEEN Mangal in Kolkata from April 12-16 to usher in the Bengali New Year, 1430. The major attraction at the Quest Mall was a giant-sized (28 kg) katla which reached Kolkata after “undertaking” a non-stop 1,500 km journey from the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam in a refrigerated van. The Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is a masonry dam across Krishna river at Nagarjuna Sagar which straddles the border between Nalgonda district in Telangana and Palnadu district in Andhra Pradesh
