The Clinical Psychology Centre of Calcutta University has uploaded the final scores based on which the candidates were selected for the MPhil programme, after the university’s secretary of science faculty sought the details for the sake of transparency.

A difference of opinion between the secretary and the teachers at the centre over whether or not the scores of the selected candidates should be published had stalled the admission to the MPhil programme.

The centre published the detailed scores on Monday evening.

The university’s interim vice-chancellor, Ashis Chatterjee, had sided with the secretary on the dispute. Following the publication of the scores, admissions to the MPhil course started on Tuesday.

Secretary Amit Roy in a letter to Chatterjee had said he wanted the list of the selected candidates with scores to be published because of the recent cases of corruption in different fields of education across the state and court observations in the cases.

The first list of selected candidates with nine names — eight in the unreserved category and one in the reserved category — was uploaded on the website of the Rajabazar science college two days after Metro reported on March 25 how the conflict had affected the admission process.

Against each candidate, the final score, which is a combination of the marks in the written test (out of 75) and in the interview (out of 25), has been mentioned.

The admission test for enrolment in MPhil in clinical psychology was held on January 10.

On January 11, the centre had published the marks of all 217 candidates who had appeared in the written test. The list included the names of the nine selected candidates.
