‘Robbers’ from Uttar Pradesh held in Sonarpur

Two brothers, who were wanted in a heist at a gold loan company in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, were arrested from South 24-Parganas’ Sonarpur on the southern fringes of Kolkata on Thursday night.

A joint team of Uttar Pradesh police and Sonarpur police station raided the rented house of Narendra and Arun Yadav. “They were living with their mother (Rajkumari). When they realised that police had come, they started to throw broken tiles on the officers. Six officers were injured,” an officer said.

Their mother was arrested on Friday morning.

The brothers were allegedly part of a team that had robbed the firm’s office and left with 19kg ornaments.
