The Bengal government on Monday announced that all schools in the state will reopen for students of classes I to VII from Wednesday.
All the schools in the state have been closed for almost two years since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in 2020.
In-person classes for standards VIII to XII had resumed last year but had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. Offline classes for standards VIII to XII resumed again on February 3, this year.
Students from classes I to VII have been attending open-air classes under Bengal government's "Paray Shikshalaya" initiative since February 7.
In a notification on Monday, Nabanna said that “a separate standard operating procedure (SOP) will be issued by the school education department” in regard to reopening schools in the state.
All Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) centres in the state will also reopen on Wednesday following a standard operating procedure which will be issued by the department of women & child development and social welfare.
The night curfew restrictions have also been eased and now will be in place from midnight (12am) to 5am instead of 11pm to 5am.
The notification also stated that other restrictions and relaxations which were put in place by the earlier notification now stand extended to February 28
