From Wednesday, the sky will be clearer and the temperature is likely to drop by a notch or two in Kolkata, said G.K. Das, director of IMD, Kolkata. A cyclonic circulation took shape over the north Bay of Bengal on Sunday.

“The system is not a strong one. But nevertheless, some easterly winds from the Bay are flowing into Kolkata and adjoining areas. The moisture in these winds led to the formation of small clouds,” said Das.

The weather is likely to be gloomy and cloudy over the next two days. “Rain, if any, will be light and occasional,” said Das.

“There is a western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir. The flow of northwesterly winds had been disrupted. Some dry winds from Bihar and Jharkhand are entering Bengal. But Kolkata, South 24-Parganas and Howrah witnessed more easterly winds on Sunday because of the system over the Bay,” said Das.
