Sheikh Nisar, 30, a resident of Baruipur in South 24-Parganas district, wanted to board a local train from Sealdah on his way home. Nisar, who works as housekeeper in a building in central Kolkata, has told police that he could not find any vehicle that would take him to Sealdah station early on Thursday.

“Nisar said he saw a motorcycle and waved at the biker, signaling him to stop. He requested the biker to drop him at the station and offered him Rs 50. The biker apparently agreed,” said an officer of Muchipara police station, where Nisar lodged a complaint.

Within a few minutes into the ride, the motorcyclist apparently asked Nisar to take out some tools from the tool box, which Nisar refused. After that the bike allegedly strayed into a lane.

The bike passed through Serpentine Lane and came to a halt in Sankhari Tala Lane, the police said. There, the man allegedly asked Nisar for a smoke. But Nisar told him that he did not have one.

An altercation broke out between the two, following which the motorcyclist allegedly took out a sharp weapon and attacked Nisar with it. He was allegedly robbed of his smartphone and Rs 3,000.

Nisar has purportedly told the police that the biker left only after he screamed for help and people started coming out of their homes.

Nisar reached Muchipara police station with multiple bleeding injuries.

The police said they were examining CCTV footage to verify the claims of the complainant and find out details of the motorcycle.
