Army wives showcase their artistry on Women’s Day

The exhibition was organised by the members of the Army Wives Welfare Association

Members of the Army Wives Welfare Association organised an exhibition on the occasion of International Women’s Day at the Academy of Fine Arts.

The exhibits included mandala, zentangle, acrylic paintings, pencil sketches, fabric art, Madhubani, watercolour and much more. Handmade items such as handbags, embroidery works, jewellery and artefacts were also on display at the exhibition, held on March 8.

The Army Wives Welfare Association is an NGO run by wives of army officers. Functioning since 1966, it works for the welfare of spouses and dependent family members of serving and retired personnel of all ranks and also widows of slain soldiers.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Reena Dewan, director of the Kolkata Centre for Creativity.

Two hurt

Two men riding a motorcycle were injured after the two-wheeler was hit by car on Syed Amir Ali Avenue near the Gurusaday Road crossing on Wednesday night, police said.
