A 70-year-old woman has lodged a complaint of assault against her tenants and alleged that they have thrown garbage in front of her Netajinagar home on the southern fringes of Kolkata and then allegedly attacked her granddaughter and daughter-in-law when they tried to clean it.

According to complainant Bina Mullick, her daughter-in-law Shanta and granddaughter Tania were physically assaulted when they tried to clean a heap of garbage dumped outside their home.

The incident happened between 12.30pm and 1.30pm on Friday when Mullick first spotted garbage, allegedly belonging to her tenants, thrown outside her home.

“I cleaned it up. But after sometime when my granddaughter noticed another pile of garbage outside our door. When she and her mother went to clean it our tenants came out and assaulted them. They (the tenants) pulled them by their hair and scratched their arms,” Mullick alleged.

The Telegraph could not contact the tenants.

Police said this was not the first time the Mullicks have lodged a police complaint against their tenants.

“There have been cases and counter cases,” said an officer of Netajinagar police station.
