The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber finished the year at number one on the Top Songs of 2022 with their collaboration STAY. Released in the summer of 2021, the song spent 51 days atop the Daily Top 100: Global and remained sticky well through 2022. STAY has not dropped out of the Daily Top 100: Global since its release, and has reached the top spot on the Daily Top 100 in 69 countries and regions worldwide. Following STAY are As It Was (Harry Styles), Wait For U (Future featuring Drake and Tems), Super Gremlin (Kodak Black) and Easy On Me (Adele)

Genres that did well

It’s interesting to note the genres that did well this year. Hip-hop leads the Top Songs chart, accounting for 32 of the top 100 songs of the year. Pop follows with 23 songs on the chart, and then comes R&B/Soul with 11 songs. Latin comes in fourth, with eight songs, and is followed by J-pop, with six.

Fitness track

Meanwhile, British DJ Joel Corry’s Head & Heart (featuring Mnek) leads the Fitness Songs chart, which ranks the top songs on Apple Fitness+ and Apple Music’s fitness playlists. Head & Heart reached the Daily Top 100 in 53 countries and regions worldwide, including 12 where it reached the top 20.

Lyrics matter

The Most Read Lyrics chart is led by We Don’t Talk About Bruno, the standout on the soundtrack to Disney’s Encanto. The lyrics chart is among the most global charts, with 29 of the 100 songs being in a language other than English.

Let’s Shazam

Coming to the Shazam chart, the leader is Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) by Elton John and Dua Lipa, which marked Elton John’s first time topping the Shazam global chart. The track was number one on 17 national charts — a record for both singers — and both hit the top spot in the UK for the first time. Rounding out the top five were Glass Animals’ Heat Waves, Harry Styles’ As It Was, Farruko’s Pepas, and Acraze’s Do It To It (feat. Cherish).

Album to listen to

Bad Bunny — Apple Music’s 2022 Artiste of the Year — became the first Latin artiste to have the biggest album of the year with Un Verano Sin Ti. A mere four months after its record-breaking release, Un Verano Sin Ti had already become the biggest Latin album of all time by lifetime streams.

Personal recap

Apple Music users can access a recap of what they’ve listened to on the service via Apple Music Replay. The service has redesigned the feature to make the experience sleeker. You can access your full Replay details on the web rather than in the Apple Music app (which does have a playlist of your most-played tracks). At the top of the page, a stories-style highlight reel can be seen (includes how many minutes you’ve spent listening to music and your top song, artiste, album and genres of the year). Down the page are the lists of your top 10 songs, artistes and albums, and your top five playlists.

You can share your highlight reel or stats on social platforms or with friends.
