A little time travel never hurt anyone. And there’s nothing we love more than browsing through the golden age of Tollywood or some candid A-lister tête-à-têtes from the '90s. Luckily, our Tolly celebs keep us happy with their social media throwbacks. Here are the best picks from this month:
Rituparna Sengupta mourned the loss of her ‘big brother, guide, and inspiration’ Bappi Lahiri, who breathed his last this week. The actor shared a couple of photographs with the late musician, on her Instagram account. “You are an inspiration to the whole world. You were full of faith, courage, and strength. You’d never be forgotten. Bapida you will be with us forever. Rest in peace, Bapi Da,” she writes.
Rituparna also shared a vintage photocall of one of their films (Lahiri had scored music for chartbusters like Swami Keno Ashami and Meyerao Manush), possibly taken in the mid-nineties.
It’s been a difficult month for the music industry. Besides Bappi Da and Lata Mangeshkar, the world also lost Bengali singer Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, who passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest. Gobhire Jao singer Rupankar Bagchi mourned the loss by revisiting an old photograph with the legend.
Two stalwarts of the music industry in one frame — Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty shared a moment with Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, on his Facebook page.
Prosenjit shared an adorable snap with his ‘Madhabi Aunty’ to mark the birthday of veteran Bengali actor Madhabi Mukherjee.
Sahana Bajpaie’s college throwback proves that she has seldom had a bad hair day. The singer shared a snap from her Visva-Bharati days, a period she dubs as her #wonderyears.
Suman Ghosh recently took to Twitter to ‘flaunt’ a happy memory with Srijit Mukherji and Parambrata Chatterjee. “Two of them much younger to me in age but equally senior in talent,” writes the Kadambari director.
Anindya Chatterjee posted a major throwback moment with Chandrabindoo bandmate Upal Sengupta, possibly from the mid-nineties. The sepia photograph shows the duo hanging out together as Upal doodles away.
