The festive season calls for some ethnic makeover to our wardrobe. Keeping in mind the trend of minimalism and capsule wardrobe as a sustainable lifestyle choice, The Telegraph creates an Indo-western lookbook for this festive season with actress Rituparna Sengupta. Versatile as festive, occasionwear and party wear, the Indo-western silhouettes are easy to wear, comfortable to carry all day long and perfect for making a style statement, too.

1. Combining the smart silhouette style of a peplum top and the Indian ethnic sari, this ready-to-wear Indo-western style from Ruceru is perfect for a stunning evening look during the festive season. Matching jewellery, dark lips and eyes and mohawk hairstyle add to the glam quotient.

2. Layering is trendy and fun. Rituparna cuts a gorgeous frame in this mint green embroidered blouse and chiffon sharara, paired with a cut-sleeve embroidered cape from Ruceru. A nude make-up palette with the eyes highlighted completes the look.

3. Pastels are soothing and still trendy. This daytime festive look from Sasya is comfy and subtle-glam, consisting of a sheen top paired with a skirt highlighted around the waist, layered with a sheer overlay.

4. Rituparna looks charming in this easy-breezy daytime look in the classic festive colours of red and white. Made of Bamber silk, the asymmetrical skirt and top by Label Arkk from Aaroh Kolkata is detailed with pearls, coins, shells and pipes for an overall fun vibe. Ankle-length boots and braided hair add to the comfy feel of the look.

Hair, Make-Up And Styling Notes

“No matter what people wear throughout the year, they wish to try some ethnic looks during the Pujas. Keeping in mind the overall Puja activities including pandal-hopping and shopping, we wanted to create ready-to-wear and comfortable looks that are also gorgeous enough for the festive season. We chose silhouettes that have an amalgamation of Indian ethnic and western styles,” said Rajat. Adding to this, Kaushik said, “With the Indo-western looks, we have kept the make-up very minimal and applied a lot of sheen for a glam festive touch. Light tones, winged liner, metallic shades, illuminator oil for a dose of freshness, twisted ponytail, soft curls, braids and messy mohawk were the hair and make-up highlights of this lookbook. All easy-to-do styles that can be done at home.”
