Sony has moved into top gear with its first State of Play for 2023, giving fans a close look at several titles, including VR games. Here are all the things that are coming your way.
BALDUR’S GATE 3
A trailer for the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 has been revealed, besides the release date of August 31. The land of Faerun is under siege by a hostile and otherworldly force known as mind flayers. Their army expands with every brain they infect with parasitic tadpoles. You are becoming one of them: a monster feared across many worlds. But as their corruption grows within you, so do mysterious new powers.
GOODBYE VOLCANO HIGH
It’s coming to PS4 and PS5 on June 15. The coming-of-age narrative game follows the exploits of Fang and their saurian pals who wonder what the future would look like after high school. Ozioma Akagha will voice Fang’s best friend and bug-loving bandmate Trish, Abe Bueno-Jallad is Fang’s little brother slash dad joke connoisseur Naser, Allegra Clark is Naomi, the charmingly uptight class president with a heart of gold, and Mark Whitten is the wise and delightfully chill drummer Reed.
DESTINY 2: LIGHTFALL
Destiny 2’s latest expansion, Lightfall, launches on February 28. Bungie has shared the launch trailer for the upcoming expansion which highlights the battle between the Guardians and The Witness and Callus’ Shadow Legion of Cabal. Guardians won’t go into the fight against Calus empty-handed — the Strand will let players pluck at the threads of cosmic consciousness and wield the Weave to sew destruction and chaos against the enemies of humanity.
TCHIA
It’s an exploration game from Awaceb and it will launch into PlayStation Plus’ Extra and Premium tiers on March 21. The latest trailer shows a little girl climbing trees, piloting a catamaran across beautiful pristine waters and she can inhabit the body of a dolphin to explore a coral reef.
NARUTO X BORUTO ULTIMATE NINJA STORM CONNECTIONS
The gameplay of the battle between Naruto and Sasuke and tons of other characters from across the series have been shown. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Naruto’s anime debut, the game will contain additional new characters on top of 124 playable ninjas appeared in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Road to Boruto.
STREET FIGHTER 6
Zangief and Cammy are returning in Street Fighter 6 along with the exuberant newcomer Lily. The bear, bird, and bee round out the diverse 18-character launch roster when Street Fighter 6 launches on June 2. Cammy has got the biggest makeover, coming into Street Fighter 6 with a new hairstyle and jacket.
