Xiaomi 12 Pro is the latest flagship phone coming your way.

Getting a flagship experience from a flagship phone is not the same in 2022 as compared to pre-Covid times. Most companies have cut corners, making pricing the only thing flagship about a flagship phone. Two Android brands continue to go against the grain and are rolling out the best service possible. Samsung continues to do that with its Galaxy S series phones and Xiaomi has a new device which makes you fall in love with the phone. Though our review still continues, here are the first impressions of using Xiaomi 12 Pro.

The first thing you will notice about the phone is simplicity. Be it the way the camera bump is designed or the overall feel, Xiaomi doesn’t overcomplicate. What you get here is a flagship display which is nothing less than an eye candy, ensuring that no big tech chops are missing. Needless to say, there is premium glass design with metal frame and on the front is a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for protection against scratches and damage.

It’s an E5 AMOLED 6.73-inch display with WQHD+ resolution, 480Hz touch sampling rate, 120Hz screen refresh rate, 10-bit display. It’s as good as it gets on premium phones. Instead of just great looks, you feel good interacting with the device, something that an effective haptic feedback brings. The vibration motor makes all the right noises while you type or play games. Plus, what you get is a four-unit speaker system on the phone tuned by Harman Kardon… it’s more than what you would usually get on any flagship device.

So far the camera has impressed us with its configuration. The triple camera setup comes with a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide snapper and another 50MP telephoto (2X) lens. We haven’t noticed any lag as far as performance goes, with the main camera offering vibrant photos while there is no colour shift between the main and ultra-wide shooters. Xiaomi is truly reaching flagship status and competing well, especially when you consider the telephoto lens. Portraits have a professional feel and night time photography has very little noise. Videos have also been impressive so far.

Performance. Of course, the company had to go with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, which is the flagship processor from Qualcomm. We have seen the processor in quite a few phones and though we haven’t seen any issues with daily workload — browsing, mailing, camera and so on —we will soon have a clearer picture about battery life.

The phone comes with MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box while keeping the device alive is a 4,600mAh battery. Though these are just first impressions, we have so far enjoyed what Xiaomi is doing with flagship phones. The company is also offering a charging brick (that too 120W) in the box. There is a lot of potential for the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Keep reading for the full review.
