Rarely does one get to play video games that are free of advertisements or in-app purchases. On top of that, we are talking about the ability to play more than 200 games at only Rs 99 a month. Apple Arcade has been going from strength to strength since its launch in 2019, offering games that can be played across devices — the iPhone, the iPad, Mac and even Apple TV.
The game subscription service has launched 20 new games and each one of them is fun to play and no matter what Apple device you are using, the experience will be top of the line.
The new titles include What The Car?, TMNT Splintered Fate, Disney SpellStruck, and Cityscapes: Sim Builder, and the expansion also adds popular games from the App Store to the service, including Temple Run+, LIMBO+ and PPKP+.
In 2022, the Apple Arcade catalogue expanded with more than 50 new games and also released over 300 updates to existing titles.
Here are a few of the new titles that have been introduced.
WHAT THE CAR? (TRIBAND)
Imagine a car that can walk, run, jump, grow legs…. From the indie developers behind quirky hit titles like What The Golf ? and What The Bat? comes this hilarious racing adventure in which players take on the role of an unconventional race car with constantly changing features. The car can even catch the common cold and making it move are sneezes.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Splintered Fate
TMNT SPLINTERED FATE (PARAMOUNT)
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have spawned several games and they continue to captivate audiences even after so many decades. In their latest adventure, available exclusively on Apple Arcade, Splinter is missing and the brothers are under attack. Join Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael on a co-op rogue-like adventure where their unique attacks combine with randomised power-ups for some gnarly fun.
DISNEY SPELLSTRUCK (ARTIST ARCADE)
Developed in partnership with the co-creator of Words with Friends, comes this word game. Set out on a journey to the Isles of Tiles with beloved Disney and Pixar characters and take on challenging crossword-style games. Players will flex their spelling skills with Mickey Mouse, Tiana, Stitch, and others in a new adventure.
CITYSCAPES: SIM BUILDER (MAGIC FUEL GAMES)
This new, sustainable take on classic citybuilding games is optimised for mobile and created by veteran sim builders. Players take on the role of mayor, and are tasked with building carefully thoughtout systems to protect the health and happiness of citizens. With a focus on sustainability, players must carefully balance citizens’ basic needs such as housing, jobs, and utilities, while considering the impact of industry and transportation on the environment.
LIMBO+ (PLAYDEAD)
LIMBO+ is an award-wining puzzle-platformer and indie adventure, critically acclaimed for its captivating puzzle design and immersive sound and visuals. Its dark, misty spaces and haunting narrative will stay with players long after they complete the game.
TEMPLE RUN+ (IMANGI STUDIOS)
Temple Run+ brings the original endless runner in glorious 4K. Players can now test their treasurehunting reflexes on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Apple TV. Race down trap-filled temple walls and along crumbling cliffs with gorgeous upgraded graphics. Use the Apple Remote or game controllers to swerve, jump, and slide.
PPKP+ (SHIMADA TOSHIHIRO)
The city is suddenly under attack by creatures of Monster Corps, and it’s up to the player to become the hero who will take down the monsters and revive the city. Players can gather building materials in the Scrapyard, replenish their strength in the Restaurant, learn new material in the Dojo, and get new upgrades in the Laboratory in their monster-hunting quest.
CHESS UNIVERSE+ (TILTING POINT)
Built by chess grandmasters and gaming experts, Chess Universe+ is playable both online and offline, where beginners and experts alike can develop their skills and rise up the leaderboard.
