Taking this heritage to South Calcutta is the new Flurys Tea Room on Purna Das Road. This is the 60th outlet of the brand in the Eastern region, with seven outlets in Mumbai and one in Delhi.“We are delighted to launch our second-biggest tearoom in Calcutta, a market with a voracious consumption for Flurys. It is a fiercely loved symbol representing five generations of great memories in the hearts of Calcuttans. Having set benchmarks in gourmet bakery and confectionery segments, Flurys is set to see more expansion soon, reaching 75 outlets,” said Vijay Dewan, managing director, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Limited. Crumb-fried Bhetki Fish and Chips: Top quality bekti marinated in a mustardy coating and then crumb-fried. We loved the juiciness of the fish, which was a good complement to the crispy crumb coating that was perfectly shaped.
The American Breakfast: Nothing says breakfast quite like Flurys and most Calcuttans have a fond Flurys breakfast memory for sure. We picked out the lavish American breakfast that’s complete with eggs, sausages, bacon, hash browns, juice etc and is fit to be called breakfast of champions.
Chicken Filled Croissant Sandwich: This was a loaded plate that had freshly baked croissant stuffed with sauteed veggies and chicken and served with house fries.
Penne Alfredo: All pastas are freshly cooked and we dug into this promising plate of penne alfredo pasta that was loaded with fresh vegetables. While the sauce was creamy and warm, the pasta wasal dente and the veggies had just the right bite.
Tres Lesches: A popular Mexican dessert, here the humble vanilla sponge is bathed in three different types of milk to create a soft and moist cake that comes with its own milky soup that’s perfect to polish off once done with the sponge.
As you enter, you will spot the dessert counter that’s replete with faves from the Flurys desert menu. Our favourite? The rum ball, of course.
